Science fiction author William Gibson’s famous adage resonates now more than ever. Technologies like artificial intelligence, gene editing, and quantum computing are hurtling forward at breakneck speed, dramatically outpacing the ability of governments and societies to understand or manage them. In field after field, traditional policymaking is failing to keep up – a dangerous governance gap that leaves humanity exposed to existential risks even as we unlock unprecedented opportunities.
